Minois Village Suites, Paros, Greece Hotel Review

in Greece, Hotel Reviews on 10/12/18

Minois Village Suites is a Four Star Hotel approximately a ten to fifteen-minute drive from the Port of Parikia. We recently chose this hotel for our 19 Year Anniversary vacation. This was our second trip to the island of Paros. Here is a hotel review on our stay at the Minois Village Suites in Paros, Greece.

Interested in more hotel reviews on the Minois Village Suites? Visit Trip Advisor. It is the first place I look when finding a hotel.

A little Paros Background Story

14 Years ago my husband and I were on a ferry to Mykonos. The ferry docked in Paros and made everyone get off. The winds were too high and the seas were too rough. It was our fifth year wedding anniversary vacation. We were stuck on the island for Paros three days and missed our flights back to the US. The planes would not fly and the ferries would not run for three days. We were literally stuck for three days and fell in love again with each other and with this beautiful island.

We always longed to come back. What are the chances we would get stuck again?

The Hotel Staff

The best part of staying at the Minois Village is the hotel staff. Everyone is super helpful and friendly!

Lorenzo, the Shuttle Driver

When we arrived off the ferry Lorenzo was there promptly to pick us up and help with our bags to take us to the hotel. He is friendly and informative about the island of Paros. The shuttle ride is about a 10-15 minute drive from the ferry port depending on traffic. Arrange for a complimentary pick up prior to your stay. Lorenzo even carried our heavy luggage up the stairs to our room.

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle and provides transportation to the Parikia Town at specified times. Be sure to schedule in advance because space is limited.

Complimentary Shuttle Times

Our stay in Paros is always a little Serendipitous. Four is our lucky number. The Junior Suite Sea View room we booked was 44. When we got to our room the time was 4:44 pm and a ferry with the number 4 was passing by as we looked at the view. We were married on September, 4th.

Eva, Guest Relations

Before our arrival,  I had exchanged emails with Eva in guest relations regarding setting up an Anniversary surprise. Eva came up to me when I arrived and she said she couldn’t do Mimosas for our Anniversary. I figured the island must be out of orange juice and thought it was weird. However, once she realized that I was talking about the morning cocktail made with Prosecco we had a good laugh. She had been searching high and low for the flowers called Mimosas. Haha!

I’ve never heard of a Mimosa flower only the cocktail. I told her next time a guest requests Mimosa you should ask them whether they want the cocktail or flower. If you are wondering what they look like…..

Eva will search high and low to get you a Mimosa!

And the cocktail Mimosa…..

Happy 19 Year Anniversary with Morning Mimosas!

Eva made our stay welcoming. She informed me that we were stranded on the island of Paros once again due to a ferry strike. Just after our Anniversary Mimosa’s, we found out!  Serendipitous! Eva said the Universe is wanting to keep you on the island of Paros because this is unusual and doesn’t happen often. Eva checked all the ferry times and kept us informed of the ferry strike and when we could depart for Santorini.

And we got stuck in Paros again 14 years later

Travel Tip

( This is why you should always get the travel insurance!) I had to pay for the Airbnb villa in Santorini for the night we missed. Chase Visa offers Trip Interruption Insurance and I am still waiting to hear back on the claim I filed. If you don’t buy travel insurance check your credit card benefits) I’m sure I have an article about this story coming soon. I used to always recommend buying travel insurance when I was a travel agent. )

The Restaurants & Food

A nice touch when you check in is the welcome amenity. In the evening when the restaurant opens you can enjoy a Greek tasty treat. It is a nice surprise!

The breakfast and restaurant staff were great. A highlight of the stay is the delicious buffet breakfast with the flakiest croissants, Greek spinach pie, fresh fruit, eggs, and bacon. We looked forward to breakfast every morning. Sit by the pool or on the restaurant deck with a view of the sea and relax before starting your day.

After exploring all day we decided to dine at the Hotel restaurant, Avli. We shared a bottle of Prosecco and a delicious salad that our waitress recommended. Always ask your server for their favorite dishes! The Risotto lacked flavor but would be great with Proscuitto. It needed more spice or saltiness. The Lamb mini burgers were our favorite. Overall we thought the drinks and food prices were reasonable for being a hotel restaurant. It is nice to have an on-site restaurant with quality food after being out and about all day. Sunset is a perfect time for dinner to enjoy the best ambiance and views of the sea. Can you say, romance?

The Amenities

The salt water pool is beautiful with lounge chairs and cabanas. We loved sitting by the pool with cocktails but never did spend time at the pool.

The Saltwater Pool

They have a fitness room and a spa too. We were always busy packing as much touring into our day to be inside so we never visited these amenities.

The Rooms

The rooms are spacious and large. I highly recommend a Sea View Room. Room 44 is a Junior Suite Sea View room and it felt private with good views. We enjoyed leaving the double doors open and listening to the sound of the waves. Sunsets are great to watch from the balcony in the evenings.

Each room is equipped with a ceiling fan, AC, coffee maker, and a small fridge. The water isn’t potable so they leave two small bottles of water for you daily.

The rooms were basic and more like a 3 star level for luxury.  The price was reasonable for our stay and the staff is really what sold us on this hotel.

Overall

We enjoyed our stay at the Minois Village Suites. Would I stay here again? It is a bit far from the town of Parikia and one time the shuttle was completely booked so had to hire a taxi. Taxi fees would get expensive. I would only recommend staying here if it is for a few nights to explore Parikia port and use the shuttle service to the port area.  A day by the pool would be nice too. If you wish to explore the island you will definitely need to rent transportation. Eva can help you with your transportation rental.

Would I stay here again? Hmmm! We found ourselves drawn to Pisa Livadi and drove there two days in a row. I would probably stay there or in Naousa for the nightlife but it is further away from the Parikia Port.  If you want to be closer to the Parikia port and want a quiet and relaxing vacation,  I would definitely recommend the Minois Village Suites. It depends what kind of vacation you are looking for relaxing vs nightlife and action.

Hope you get to visit Paros someday,

Bonnie

It has the best year round weather in the US. It’s mostly 70 degrees and sunny. There is so much outdoor things to go do like sail, surf, ride bikes, play on the beach, watch the amazing sunsets and hope for the green flash, shop, dine, go whale watching or see dolphins! It’s been a nice break from the cold weather in Colorado.
