Valentine’s Day is about celebrating the people you love. My guy friends don’t always love Valentine’s Day. Is that a big surprise? Not really. It gets them stressed out and many feel like it is a gimmick to buy expensive roses and go out when the restaurants are overcrowded. Years ago, I came up with the idea to host my closest friends to a festive, romantic dinner party to celebrate our love and friendship. Today I am writing about some Valentine’s Day Ideas that inspire romance. I have a few ideas that are easy and simple.
Host an intimate cocktail party
Create a theme and dress accordingly. My guests must always wear pink or red. Some theme ideas I’ve hosted have been: Pretty in Pink using the movie, soundtrack and color, An Italian Love Affair with scenes of Italy, with themed music, and food, I love spending time in California so I hosted a California Love party with California wines and California Cuisine food pairings. My guy friends love these parties because all they have to do is wear pink or red, bring a bottle of wine, and their wives are super happy. Time is best spent with the ones you love.
A Date Night Picnic for Two
Plan the evening at home alone. Make a charcuterie Board, buy a bottle of wine and a picnic basket. You can lay a picnic blanket down in the middle of your living room. Make a playlist of your special songs and slow dance together in the living room. Don’t forget candlelight for an added romantic effect. If you plan a public place you can buy flameless candles.
Valentine’s Day Gift-Date Night Ideas
Want some new creative date ideas? This gift inspires romance, creativity and fun for the year. If you’ve been in a long relationship this is a fun way to come up with some new date ideas. I am buying this to hand out to my couple friends at our Valentine’s Day party.
A Simple and Classic Valentine’s Day Date – Champagne & Sunset
Grab a bottle of your favorite Bubbly, some strawberries, and dark chocolate and watch the sunset together.
An Inexpensive Valentine’s Day Gift to the one that stole your heart
Are you looking for an inexpensive Valentine’s Day gift to celebrate with? These Champagne flutes these make a great gift for weddings, and Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to get a bottle of bubbly and make a toast about the things you love about your Valentine.
Valentine’s Day Getaway
Valentine’s Day is on a Friday this year and it also happens to be a long President’s Day weekend. Take your love on a surprise trip for the weekend. Think of locations that inspire romance. Italy is always romantic! Wine Regions are always fun for a weekend getaway. I spend part of the year in Colorado and a snowy winter destination is romantic. You can book a horse drawn sleigh ride and soak in a hot tub in the evening. However, a beach destination is always a good idea. Warm weather inspires less clothing! Sunsets over the ocean and dancing to live music at a beach bar is a great way to enjoy a Valentine’s Day Getaway. My husband loves winter and I love 70 degrees and sunny by the ocean.
Buy a Couple’s Journal
Over dinner make a list of all the activities you want to do together, experiences you both want to have in life, and a travel bucket list of all the places you wish to go. We made a top 5 bucket list trip list when Gary and I started dating. Now 25 years later we keep adding to the list and South Africa is still on the original list. Maybe the couple that plans bucket list trips together stays together. Now sailing has become a passion of ours and boat trips are a priority.
Cheers to love and romance!
The most important part about Valentine’s Day is to share quality time together doing something you love together. Love should be celebrated everyday right? These are a few ideas to help you with any Valentine’s Day anxiety. Valentine’s Day is a beautiful day to celebrate love. Cheers, Bonnie
