Why a Bonnie Blog?

in Inspiration, Travel & Destinations on 09/01/13

Travel, Inspire, Live

Travel is an important part of Bonnie’s Life. She has been to 27 countries so far and counting.

Why Travel?

Traveling has changed her life, taught her to live with passion and given her a new perspective. Tasting new foods, getting a change of scenery, and meeting new people is pure adventure.

Even navigating with a map is quite an adventure, like the time she drove around a circle three times in Rome trying to get to a road leading to the Amalfi Coast.

All the experiences of traveling have enriched her life and created memories that will last a lifetime. You will never regret the places you have traveled too, only the ones you didn’t.

Traveling restores faith in humanity. The world is filled with friendly people regardless of age, race, or economic status.

A nice family in Puerto Montt approached Bonnie to ask where she was from. After talking about traveling they wrote a list of restaurants and places she should visit while in Santiago.

Having problems buying a train ticket in Tokyo, a gentleman offered to buy her and her husband train tickets. He helped her realize she was at the wrong machine for credit cards.

She once misplaced her passport in Puerto Iguacu.  The taxi cab driver wouldn’t leave her side in the airport until she found it.

Traveling makes you realize people in the Universe are good. It truly restores faith in people and that we are all the same. You can make friends all over the world just by traveling to a new place.

This was taken at a bar in the Casablanca Valley in Chile. I attempted Spanish and they spoke very little English. Luckily I knew how to say Vino Blanco. They gave me quarters to play in the jukebox, and they had older American rock music to select from. The Chilean people are nice and friendly.

Our world is filled with awe and natural beauty that will take your breath away.

Driving in Alaska and seeing Mt. Denali high above the clouds was an ah-ha moment.

Visiting Iguazu Falls with it’s colorful rainbows and expansive, thundering falls, you realize that heaven is a destination on Earth.

Hiking a 14er in Colorado, feeling dizzy from the thin air, and finally reaching the peak 14,000 feet above sea level leaves you breathless, literally!

Jumping in the water to swim with black-tipped reef sharks in Bora Bora in the clear, blue lagoon is a bit frightening but a magical moment. From the mountains to the sea we were born to see the beauty that exists on the planet we live on.

IT’S A BONNIE THING

Bonnie has always journaled about her travels, goals, and dreams.  This blog was born from one of her journal entries. It’s a Bonnie Thing is a travel and lifestyle blog to show you the beauty that exists in the world. It’s a place to come to for inspiration on living a good life with passion.

I always find these boat lifts interesting. Isn’t amazing how much bigger boats seem when they are out of the water?

One reason I love it so much is because the trees and mountains are so close to the sea. Although the state is incredibly diverse I’m always drawn to places where the mountains reach the sea.
We recently hiked from Bowman Bay to the shores of Deception Pass where tidal currents are strong and it makes kayaking and boating a challenge. On a rare occasion you may see an Orca. We got lucky to see Anacortes’s celebrity Elsie May sunbathing on the shore of Bowman Bay.
