Woodinville, WA- The place to taste wine in WA

in Travel & Destinations, USA, Washington on 04/14/17

Buying wine at Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville, Washington

Woodinville, Washington Wine Tasting

Woodinville is just 30 minutes from Seattle. If staying in Bellevue it is a quick Uber ride about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.

The Uber ride cost Bonnie $30.75 from the Westin Bellevue to Brian Carter Cellars. The return ride from Willow’s Lodge to the Westin was only $22.49. This is less than the wine tours and you can explore at your own pace.

Woodinville has over 140 wineries, tasting rooms, and wine bars! It is home to the famous Chateau Ste. Michelle and they are known for their Eroica Riesling and summer concert series!

Woodinville is divided into 4 wine districts, the Hollywood district, the Warehouse District, the Downtown District and The West Valley District. According to WoodinvilleWineCountry.com, there are over 800 wine makers in the state of Washington and more 90+ rating vintages than anywhere in the world.

Visit the Woodinville Wine Country.com website to plan your trip. It’s a nice day trip from Seattle. Woodinville has tree-lined streets and a country feel.

Did you know that Washington State is the second largest wine producer in the US? ( California is the first)

Grapes are grown in the Yakima, Walla Walla and Columbia Valley regions of Washington. The wineries in Woodinville are getting grapes from these locations.

If you want to spend more time than a day relaxing in Woodinville. Bonnie highly recommends staying at the Willow’s Lodge. She stayed there in 2007. She went back to visit for Happy Hour this year. It’s a beautiful lodge just across the street from Chateau Ste. Michelle. Happy Hour is the perfect time to visit from 4-6pm with live music.

After a little wine tasting, Bonnie happy hour’ed at the Willows Lodge

You’ve got to try the Grand Marnier Prawns!

If you love music you don’t want to miss the summer concert series at the Chateau Ste. Michelle. It’s on Bonnie’s Bucket list to attend one someday. Pink Martini, John Legend, Elvis Costello are examples of the top talent that performs there. Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of Washington’s oldest wineries and Bonnie’s personal favorite. The grounds are beautiful with the backdrop of a French Country Chateau.

Bonnie’s favorite wine was the Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling in her 20’s and she even served it at her wedding. Speaking of weddings this would be a beautiful place to get married!

Don’t miss the blend master, Brian Carter of Brian Carter Cellars. He blends art with his wine and his labels are beautiful. Brian Carter Cellar’s has a small tasting room with gifts to buy and an outdoor patio for wine tasting. It isn’t far from the Willow’s Lodge. It was the second time Bonnie has visited and she purchased a bottle to enjoy at the Inn at Market on the 5th floor’s outdoor patio overlooking the Puget Sound. Everyone enjoyed the white blend Oriana. The sun even came out!

Bonnie loves to drink local wine when she travels. It is the perfect souvenir to buy on your trip. Take a bottle home and be instantly transported back to your vacation. Enjoy wine with the people you love when you come home. Bonnie purchased bottles to enjoy with friends in Seattle. Just this week her case from Chateau Ste. Michelle arrived home in Winter Park, Colorado and they enjoyed the Pinot Blanc during sunset on Monday!

Travel & Wine are the perfect pairing.

Sunset & Wine – It’s a Bonnie Thing

Sunsets & Wine are another perfect pairing!

Cheers, Bonnie

What’s your happy place? I have a lot of them bu What’s your happy place? I have a lot of them but San Diego is in my top 5 places I always want to travel to. Why? It has the best year round weather in the US. It’s mostly 70 degrees and sunny. There is so much outdoor things to go do like sail, surf, ride bikes, play on the beach, watch the amazing sunsets and hope for the green flash, shop, dine, go whale watching or see dolphins! It’s been a nice break from the cold weather in Colorado.
