Write a Love Note

in Inspiration, Lifestyle & Beauty on 02/06/20

Do you believe the world is a great place to live?

Do you believe you can make a difference in the world?

Start small and make a difference to the people around you first, then focus on your neighborhood or community. Everyone wants to be loved and this is the month to celebrate love. Write a love note. Write a love note first to yourself, then to someone you love, and thirdly leave a random love note for a neighbor or stranger to find.

Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. Mother Teresa

February is the month of LOVE! First, start with yourself. Plan to have a love affair with yourself this month.  Take a bubble bath, slow down and take a yoga class, do something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t done yet. Buy beautiful stationary or note cards. Next week, write yourself a love note and open it on Valentine’s Day.

When was the last time you received a love letter? Have you ever received a love letter?

“A real love letter is made of insight, understanding, and compassion. Otherwise it’s not a love letter. A true love letter can produce a transformation in the other person, and therefore in the world. But before it produces a transformation in the other person, it has to produce a transformation within us. Some letters may take the whole of our lifetime to write.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh

I recently read the book, ” The Last Love Letter from your Lover.” by JoJo Moyes. It is a fabulous love story perfect for this months theme of love. The art of the classic, handwritten love letter is dying out. Most communication between couples and family members are texts and emails. I read once, that even the art of handwriting may be dying out. Wouldn’t that be tragic?

Next week is Valentine’s Day. Write a love note to your spouse, partner, or family member. It doesn’t have to be long but tell them how you feel about them and how important they are to you. Last year, I hosted a small dinner party for a few friends. It was a Pretty in Pink ( or Red) themed event. Yes, I played the Pretty in Pink soundtrack and had the movie on in the background. The guys loved it. They said, ” Now I don’t have to plan something and my wife was super excited.” For me, it was a way to show how much I appreciate my wonderful friends by treating them to a good night of delicious food and wine.

Write a little love note to each guest instead of using a place card

My friends kept whispering to do it again this year. Next week, I am hosting an Italian Love Affair dinner with the same couples. Italy inspires romance and the Italian cuisine is perfect for Valentine’s Day. I’ll add some Andrea Bocelli and the movie “Letters to Juliet” in the background. Valentine’s Day doesnt have to be about gifts but the experience and spending time with the ones you love is what matters most. Now, write a handwritten love letter to someone else! I ordered small love notes to use as place cards and each person will receive a love note from yours truly.

People need to spread love towards strangers. We all bleed the same blood and we are all part of a global community now. Aloe Blacc

Thirdly, we know everyone wants to be loved and appreciated. The Dalia Lama said, ” Ultimately, the reason why love and compassion bring the greatest happiness is simply that our nature cherishes them above all else. The need for love lies at the very foundation of human existence.”

We may not be able to change the world but we can spread love around our communities and neighborhoods. Buy extra motivational cards and leave random love notes to your neighbors and even strangers. Say, ” Hey Girl, You’ve got this.” “You are a superstar.” Or just leave a motivational or inspirational quote in a card.

These are the ones I just bought and are perfect to hand out randomly. What great messages. Wouldn’t you like to get a note like this on your car, or say someone buys you a cup of coffee and the clerk hands you a small love note? If you live in Grand County, you might just receive a random love note from yours truly.

You have the power to uplift someone and create a little magic in your community this month. Enjoy February to have a love affair with yourself and spread love to others. Ignite a love spark inside yourself and spread that love around. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Cheers to love,

Happy Valentine's Day

Even though we have big, tall mountains like 14ers in Colorado, Mt Baker just always seems bigger but it’s only 10,781 ft. It is the third highest mtn. peak in the state. I love how these mountains just seem to rise from the sea.
Victoria, Canada! You can take a seaplane, a ferry Victoria, Canada! You can take a seaplane, a ferry or your private boat to reach Victoria. We spent the weekend at the Causeway Marina right in the heart of Victoria! This is the prettiest marina I’ve ever stayed in. We cruised to meet the San Juan Island Yacht Club to celebrate their Past Commodores cruise. This is always one of my favorite cruises of the summer calendar. Unfortunately I got sick and missed out on one of the most highlighted events of the season. You know I’m sick if I choose bed over a party with dinner and dancing.

What is your favorite destination on Vancouver Island, Canada? Next summer I am planning a road trip and a boat trip around the island so your comments will be helpful.
